Safeguarding at TrueMind
Edge is delivered to under-18 academy cohorts. Everyone from TrueMind who goes on site is enhanced DBS-cleared and safeguarding-trained, and works inside the host club's framework. A concern can also surface through the platform itself, and this page sets out exactly what happens when it does.
01 · Our posture
Every TrueMind person on site at a club or academy is enhanced DBS-cleared. Certificates available on request.
Every TrueMind person is safeguarding-trained to FA or equivalent standard, with an annual refresh.
We operate inside the host club's safeguarding framework, never alongside it or above it. The club's Designated Safeguarding Lead leads. We follow.
Voice sessions are completed by the player on their own device, in their own time, in a setting they choose, without a TrueMind person present. Group sessions with players are always staffed by a club representative.
Edge is a mental performance platform. It is not a child welfare or safeguarding case management system, and TrueMind is not the system of record for safeguarding concerns. Your systems hold the record.
Edge outputs must not be the sole basis for decisions affecting player welfare, selection, progression, disciplinary outcomes or contracts. They are there to support a conversation, not to replace judgement.
02 · Named lead
Mike is our Chief Operating Officer and the named contact for safeguarding and for data protection. One person, accountable for both, so nothing falls between them.
Michael Dowling-Fleet · michael@truemindedge.ai
Use this address for a concern, a question or a report. It goes straight to Mike, not to a shared inbox.
03 · How a concern reaches you
A concern can come from something one of our people sees on site, or from something a player says in a session. The second route is the one most platforms do not talk about, so we will be specific.
If a TrueMind person observes, or is told about, a safeguarding concern during a visit, we report immediately to the club's Designated Safeguarding Lead, and we share that report with the TrueMind safeguarding lead.
Edge asks players to talk about how they think, learn and cope under pressure. Occasionally a session, a response or a report will raise a safeguarding concern. When it does, our process is manual and takes place outside the Edge platform.
The relevant material is captured, for example by screenshot, and sent directly to your Designated Safeguarding Lead. From that point the matter is owned and recorded by the club in its own designated system, for example CPOMS, under the club's own safeguarding policy and retention practice.
TrueMind keeps its own record that a referral was made, in offline back-office files, not on the Edge platform. There is no safeguarding referral log inside Edge. This is an internal TrueMind process, not a feature of the product.
This mirrors the obligation in the Data Processing Schedule that forms part of every club agreement, so what you read here is what we are contractually bound to do.
04 · What you can expect from us
Before we visit, we share DBS confirmations and safeguarding certificates with your Designated Safeguarding Lead.
We sign in, follow the club's protocols, and remain visible. We do not photograph or record players outside of the voice session itself.
We do not message under-18 players directly and we do not hold player phone numbers. Session links are made available for the club to distribute through its own channels. All other communication sits inside the Edge web app or goes through club staff.
If a concern relates to the conduct of a TrueMind person, we report to your Designated Safeguarding Lead first, then internally, then act on the outcome of the club's investigation.
05 · Players under 18
Every profile is flagged by age status at enrolment, based on date of birth. That flag governs the consent and transparency obligations that follow.
Our full position on what Edge collects, how long it is kept and what rights a player has is set out on the Data Protection page.
06 · What we ask of clubs
We review our safeguarding posture annually with an external safeguarding advisor and update this page accordingly.
